James obtained his PhD from UCL in 2020, under the supervision of Andreu Font-Ribera and Andrew Pontzen (UCL). During his PhD he developed an algorithm to generate synthetic realisations of the Lyman alpha forest quasars of DESI. James also worked on a project to use machine learning techniques to automatically identify quasars from DESI spectra. He is now a data scientist at Xelix.
